What is the single biggest challenge facing Muslim assimilation into French culture? Why?
I think the single biggest challenge Muslim is facing is the poverty. If ones are poor, then they are not able to find a job, and to have their children to get education. And that will lead to bad consequences. People steal because they are poor and they wanted to survive. People do not have well education, and then they are easy to have high crime rates. A research also shows that they are more likely to have high unemployment rate, not because of their religion and culture, but because of poor job, poor language skills, poor childcare and lack of confidence. These are all somehow caused by poverty. However, Muslims in France are not necessary poor, and they are not always having less education and commit crimes. Yet some of them may have languages barrier, some of them may have cultural conflicts, and some of them may have different ways of living. And these all cause them not able to fit in the community, and they may easily live segregate. But middle class Muslim's condition are much better, they are also more likely to assimilate to the general public.
